Let’s compare the rise of an eagle to rising up in the power of grace.
Isaiah 40:31 But those who wait on the LORD shall renew their strength; they shall mount up with wings like eagles, they shall run and not be weary, they shall walk and not faint.
The song, Lord Lift Us Up Where We Belong, says, “Where we belong, on the mountains high where the eagles fly.”
One of the realities of an eagle is he can’t maintain his heights by his own efforts. He always uses unseen updrafts of air to help him rise. When you see an eagle soaring, his wings are spread; designed to use the up drafts to hold him so high. The eagle would wear out if it was only by his efforts in flying. Never do we see an eagle flapping vigorously to stay in the lofty heights. We,too, will wear out if we are trying to be victorious by only our own efforts.
Ephesians 2:8 For it is by free grace (God’s unmerited favor) that you are saved(delivered from judgment and made partakers of Christ’s salvation) through [your] faith. And this [salvation] is not of yourselves [of your own doing, it came not through your own striving], but it is the gift of God; AMP
Grace is never the only ingredient God is using for our salvation. Of course it is a free gift from God; however, it has to be mixed with faith. If you were not required to accept salvation through faith, you could not be saved, nor delivered, nor have all your needs supplied. God has designed us for a response by faith.
The term grace is from the root of the Greek word charis (khar’-ece); it always means the divine influence upon the human heart, and its reflection in the believer’s life; through unmerited favor. Look at the effect of grace to our lives as a result. (KJV – acceptable, benefit, favor, gift, grace (-ious), joy, liberality, pleasure, thankful.) These are granted to you through grace by faith.
The term grace means endowment, given for living, victoriously. All the powerful gifts of the spirit are from the root “charis.” This empowerment gives us all charisma in God for living. The benefits given to you make you “more than a conqueror”, an overcomer, by putting you in right relationship with God through Jesus Christ.
Grace means God has made His presence/favor available to you. You have to accept it by faith. Faith comes from knowing His Word. You absolutely have forgiveness available to you at all times. However you must ask for it through repentance. Repentance means to allow God to change your ways to please Him.
The Lord woke me one morning with this thought,“Grace is like air to the Christian; you breathe it in continually.” Believing faith becomes natural to the believer. Grace brings us all the promises of God, through a new life.
2 Corinthians 1:20 For all the promises of God in Him are Yes, and in Him Amen, to the glory of God through us. NKJ
God didn‘t save and raise us up by our own merits, but by Christ Jesus. We never should accept trying to live a Christian life through our own efforts, but by the Word of the living God. Jesus said “Man cannot live by bread alone, but by every word of God.’
We are to become like the eagles; flying high is not some laborious effort, it is by believing and confessing God’s Word. Zerubbabel was the man God was using. In Zech. 4:6-8 So he answered and said to me: “This is the word of the LORD to Zerubbabel: ‘Not by might, nor by power, but by My Spirit,’ Says the LORD of hosts. 7 ‘Who are you, O great mountain? Before Zerubbabel you shall become a plain! And he shall bring forth the capstone With shouts of “Grace, grace to it!”‘”
The mountain was flattened by grace. That is true, however, the man had to go and speak grace to the mountain. You have unseen power working to raise you up; however, you are required to speak His Word to your mountain.
Look at it this way, maybe no one can see it (God’s Word) but that does not make it unreal or ineffective. You cannot see the eagles up draft but it is there for him. Jesus said you can’t see the Spirit, but, you can see the effects of the Holy Spirit. You are endowed with power from the Holy Spirit through grace and faith. Let’s quit flapping around, trying to make our own way.
Deuteronomy 28:13 And the LORD will make you the head and not the tail; you shall be above only, and not be beneath, if you heed the commandments of the LORD your God, which I command you today, and are careful to observe them. NKJV
We are raised by the power of grace! We are endowed by God to overcome and live in victory! We are designed for overcoming!
