Thank God, there is hope in troubled times! There is someone to look to for real help. The message of Jesus Christ is much more than just a spiritual feeling for an afterlife. God sent His Son into the world, not to condemn it, but to save it; to rescue those who respond to His call.
Jesus said inLuke 4:18-19 “The Spirit of the LORD is upon Me, Because He has anointed Me To preach the gospel to the poor; He has sent Me to heal the brokenhearted, To proclaim liberty to the captives And recovery of sight to the blind, To set at liberty those who are oppressed; To proclaim the acceptable year of the LORD.” NKJV
These words are a declaration of Jesus about His mission. The Gospel is Good News to those who have no reason to hope. The poor are people who need help in many situations without the means of deliverance. The brokenhearted are the hurting, lonely people of this world. His message is the proclamation of liberty, the recovery sight to see the way to go, to have your eyes opened to God’s love and help. To set, means to grant or give liberty to the oppressed; spiritually, emotionally, mentally, etc. To be accepted by the Lord now, not later. To see the power of salvation continually!
Hope is knowing your situation will change for good. A rescue plan is coming by the hand of the Lord. Hope is future, but future is in the next moment until it happens. True Hope is expectation. It is similar to a woman being pregnant. She knows a child is growing inside of her. If you know God, His promise to never leave you will open a way of deliverance. Actually, hope from a Biblical view, is joyful expectation. Never let the enemy of your faith abort your hope and faith in answered prayer.
Jesus said He was anointed by the Spirit of the Lord. The term anointed means to remove the burdens and destroy the yokes. Sin has huge consequences. The spirit of the world is under a curse. You can have that curse removed by believing in Jesus Christ.
Galations 3:13 Christ has redeemed us from the curse of the law.
Being born again means that we believe Jesus Christ is the Son of God, has been raised from the dead for our salvation, and has forgiven our sins and made us new creations.
Now, comes the realization of Christ in you the hope of glory.
Colossians 1:27 To them God willed to make known what are the riches of the glory of this mystery among the Gentiles: which is Christ in you, the hope of glory. NKJV
We live in a very troubled time. However, we do not have to be fearful, worried, or full of dread. In the Word of God can find continual hope. Listen to the heart of Christ; don’t go by the nay-sayers.
Matthew 9:35-36 Jesus went through all the towns and villages, teaching in their synagogues, preaching the good news of the kingdom and healing every disease and sickness. When he saw the crowds, he had compassion on them, because they were harassed and helpless, like sheep without a shepherd.
God always has a rescue plan; that means you always have a reason for hope. You can see God is not your problem, He is your solution. I want you to see two more truths to demonstrate reasons for hope.
Acts 10:38 how God anointed Jesus of Nazareth with the Holy Spirit and with power, who went about doing good and healing all who were oppressed by the devil, for God was with Him. NKJV
Remember the anointing removes burdens and destroys yokes. It could be said this way; the anointing has the power to remove the cause of your trouble and heal you of all its effects.
Finally, you can see Jesus is God’s answer these troubled times.
Roman 10:8-13 “The word is near you, in your mouth and in your heart” (that is, the word of faith which we preach):9 that if you confess with your mouth the Lord Jesus and believe in your heart that God has raised Him from the dead, you will be saved.10 For with the heart one believes unto righteousness, and with the mouth confession is made unto salvation.11 For the Scripture says, “Whoever believes on Him will not be put to shame.” 12 For there is no distinction between Jew and Greek, for the same Lord over all is rich to all who call upon Him.13 For “whoever calls on the name of the LORD shall be saved.” NKJV
