The first words man heard from the Lord, declared over them was THE BLESSING. It is amazing how many people take a word like blessing and turn it into a generic term; a word without power. When God gave THE BLESSING over Adam and Eve power was intended; it was stated and granted to them by the Lord. He certainly demonstrated His intentions when He said; “Let us make man in Our image, according to Our likeness.”
Words are the basis of how we determine everything. The definitions of words empower us or limit us. What we speak to ourselves internally sets us in action or reaction to events and other people. The truth is God created the heavens and the earth by His word, so the words He spoke to them are very important for us today. We need to see and understand their meaning as foundational truths.
Genesis 1:26-28 Then God said, “Let Us make man in Our image, according to Our likeness; let them have dominion over the fish of the sea, over the birds of the air, and over the cattle, over all the earth and over every creeping thing that creeps on the earth.” 27 So God created man in His own image; in the image of God He created him; male and female He created them. 28 Then God blessed them, and God said to them, “Be fruitful and multiply; fill the earth and subdue it; have dominion over the fish of the sea, over the birds of the air, and over every living thing that moves on the earth.” NKJV
These words are still in effect today. I know sin corrupted the earth; however, the one thing not changed by sin was God Himself. When God spoke, there are attributes in the words that are inherit and cannot be changed by man.
a. There are power words in THE BLESSING.
b. It is anointed to operate by the Holy Spirit.
c. It has authority to overcome all obstacles for our lives.
d. It contains empowering ability for you.
e. THE BLESSING has multiplication power in its make-up.
f. Replenish gives us resurrection and restoring potential.
g. THE BLESSING has grace and favor to open doors.
h. Dominion gives us a right to reign and rule in life.
Hebrew scholars define THE BLESSING given here as an empowerment to prosper. It means to succeed in life, to accomplish your goals, be successful in business and to have a peaceful life; and of course it has financial aspects as well.
It is time for us to accept the truth of the THE BLESSING being the foundation God laid down in the beginning and that it is for us. The entire Bible demonstrates the power of the blessing in the lives of God’s people. Can you see how important it was for Christ to return THE BLESSING to everyone?
Galatians 3:13-14 Christ has redeemed us from the curse of the law, having become a curse for us (for it is written, “Cursed is everyone who hangs on a tree”), that the blessing of Abraham might come upon the Gentiles in Christ Jesus, that we might receive the promise of the Spirit through faith. NKJV
We have THE BLESSING back on our lives. Paul was writing about the greatest revelation in church history; the new creation in Christ. It is important for the church to understand we have been empowered by the same blessing God declared in the beginning.
Galatians 3:8-9 And the Scripture, foreseeing that God would justify the Gentiles by faith, preached the gospel to Abraham beforehand, saying, “In you all the nations shall be blessed.” 9 So then those who are of faith are blessed with believing Abraham. NKJV
We want you to see how THE BLESSING is for you by the Lord’s design. There isn’t anyone who doesn’t desire God’s blessing. Yet, what is needed first is for you to believe by faith it is already yours. Start confessing THE BLESSING over your life knowing you have the favor of God already. Go back to the attributes list and be specific in prayer. Live a good clean life and expect the impossible to happen.
1 Corinthians 2:9 Eye has not seen, nor ear heard, Nor have entered into the heart of man, the things which God has prepared for those who love Him.
Prayer: Father, in Jesus name, I thank you for THE BLESSING; I receive it in fullness and great hope. Amen
