REACHING FOR THE STARS-THE INTRINSIC POWER OF WORDS

We live in a time when there is much confusion in the world around us. However, God is not confused, nor is He changing His mind, will or purposes. While I was praying one morning the Lord gave me a revelation about the power of words.

He created the world, the universe and all that is in them by His Word. He saw the end from the beginning, so He set His plans and purposes accordingly. He said, “My Word never changes it is set in place as universal law. My thoughts are in line with My creation, plans and purposes. You can trust My word.”

This was great insight. The words we use have power continuously to influence our decisions, outcomes of choices and much more. All things are the result of words. God created life by speaking through faith into our world. He also created us in His likeness and placed us in the world. Now, because we are like him, our words have the power to influence each one of us as we think, seek understanding, hear from others and decide our courses of action throughout life. This is a form of creating.

Proverbs 2:1 & 4 My child listen to me and treasure my instructions. Search for
them as you would for lost money or hidden treasure
.

Words have power! Scripture tell us we are new creations in Christ; we are overcomers and more than conquerors. One of the greatest treasures you need for understanding is about the intrinsic power and authority of words. God made us speaking spirits and we have a body and a soul. The soul is where we receive and evaluate information such as who we are, what we receive from outside information and our responses to it. We have the power in us to create a good life and to get in agreement with God’s Word.

Intrinsic means: that which is enclosed within an object; the nature of the object to have ability, value or power. Not dependent on external influence.

Words have the power within themselves to influence your outcome. For instance fear
comes to all, you might say, however, God says that He didn’t give us a spirit of fear but love, power and a sound mind. Therefore fear may come, but we don’t have to receive it.

2 Timothy 1:7 For God has not given us a spirit of fear, but of power and of love and
of a sound mind.
NKJV

If your thoughts are about fear and being afraid, you are disagreeing with a powerful word from the scriptures. Your outcome will be different if decided from fear than if you refused to fear. You have a spirit of overcoming because of God being with you.

Another word is dread. The definition for dread is: great fear in view of impending evil; fearful apprehension of danger; anticipatory terror. People can use this word about going to work Monday morning. Dread is not a word to be used loosely. Christians don’t have to use it at all; why you might ask? Jesus said that He would never leave you, nor forsake you. You don’t have to be afraid, ever. The term dread has power to affect your life negatively. You don’t have a spirit of dread of any kind. I decided not to dread anything. I quit using the word to describe any event. I refuse to dread, I can face life. I not only can face life, but live victoriously.
The words that you use when you think to yourself, talk to yourself, describe events to yourself, have power to decide your outcome in life. Words have intrinsic power to stir your emotional behavior. It is inside any word we may use. We are releasing its power in us. Luke 11:17 But He, knowing their thoughts, said to them: “Every kingdom divided against itself is brought to desolation, and a house divided against itself falls. (NKJV) He knew their thoughts.

Don’t divide your house by saying one thing out loud while thinking something completely different in your heart. Here is a biblical example:

Matthew 9:20-22 And, behold, a woman, which was diseased with an issue of blood twelve years, came behind him, and touched the hem of his garment: For she said within herself, If I may but touch his garment, I shall be whole. But Jesus turned him about, and when he saw her, he said, Daughter, be of good comfort; thy faith hath made thee whole. And the woman was made whole from that hour. KJV

This woman said something to herself. She encouraged herself to receive a miracle. She didn’t say to herself, “I wish I could receive; nothing like that ever happens to me; I doubt it would ever do me any good to believe in healing.” Use the power from words to create a successful outcome to your own challenges.

James 3:2 For we all stumble in many things. If anyone does not stumble in word, he is a perfect man, able also to bridle the whole body. NKJV

This scripture is certainly talking about the results of changing what you say. It is saying to get control of your tongue and you can change your whole life. It actually says guide the course of your life. Of course, you still need to seek God and pray concerning His direction for you.

Words have the intrinsic power to create dreams, victories or defeats, and the power to encourage or discourage. Use the power of your words to encourage and empower your heart and mind. Remember: Proverb 18:21 Life and death are in the power of the tongue, and those who love it will eat its fruit. NKJV

Reach for the stars and see where the Lord will take you.

Prayer: Father, I thank you for the wisdom to use words wisely and not loosely. Thank You for understanding that can affect my life and accomplish so much good in it. I am excited about prospering in my walk with you and helping others by it. In Jesus Name. Amen.
